5-ways-to-organize-your-desk
‘Work from home’ sounds like a tempting concept; something that most of us would have craved for at some point indeed. Not only it helps in creating a balance between your personal and professional life, but also, it enables us to be more productive and disciplined. Yes, you heard it right!

The idea of working from home might be synonymous with more comfort and relaxation. But don’t get distracted by it. Be it working from your office desk or home space, the one thing that is going to remain constant is your ‘work’. The more work or assigned tasks you accomplish in the given time frame, the more productive you will be.

Some of us might have been working from home for years and are totally cool with it, while others are still finding it quite difficult to adapt to this contemporary work culture. If you belong to the latter category, then here are a few tips to improve your productivity when you are working from home:

Choose a comfortable spot

When your home is your new office, the first thing you should focus on is to select a space that keeps you relaxed and focused at the same time. Since you’ll be spending most of your time working in that very space, make sure to choose something that keeps your posture aligned.

Besides this basic set up, you can get more creative by painting that specific corner with your favorite color. And yeah, it’s always to good have a window to have that pleasant view outside and keep yourself fresh. Also, you can put some plants (even one would work though) in that area to enhance your productivity.

Prepare a to-do list

To be successful and productive at work, one of the most important things is to organize your tasks. List the tasks you are supposed to do and organize them based on priority. This not only helps you in differentiating between the most important and less important tasks but also reduces the chances of being anxious later. And, the end result? Better productivity.

Dress up for the day

For most people, working from home is more about staying in comfy PJs with music on in the background. While this might sound cool, but in reality, this is complete BS. For being in the real mindset to work, make it a norm to dress up as you would normally do for office, have your tea or coffee, and do whatever it takes to get that ‘Yes, I am up for it’ feel.

Create a work schedule and follow it religiously

So, if your normal office hours were from 8 AM to 5 PM, follow that routine even when you are working remotely. Trust me, this will keep you sane throughout. Use your commute time as a bonus in uncluttering your workspace, and preparing yourself for the day.

Take breaks

Now, this tip is more for workaholics. If you are one of those who love working even during their lunchtime, then please stop doing that, and allocate at least a few minutes for yourself. Also, it is significant to have some time off from your monitor screens so as to relax your precious eyes.

Read something, maybe just an article, eat or drink something to fuel your energy, and keep yourself going through the second half of your day.

Exercise or just stretch

When you are living all by yourself, working remotely can be more challenging since you don’t have anybody to talk to. But guess what? You can break this monotony by setting aside some time for exercising or quick stretching up. This eases your tensed muscles and helps you work more efficiently.

Sign out

Now, this can be the most difficult part to follow for some of you guys. The last hour(s) of the day fly just like that, and when, it’s about the last few minutes, that temptation of completing ‘that one last task’ keeps going on and on.

However, don’t let this lure you. Clock out at the right time, neither a minute before nor a minute later. I know some of you might struggle with this in the initial stages, but then, if you follow this, it would help you to spend that quality time with your family and prepare yourself for the next day.
